Whoever it was who actually said this had a point. And it’s a point I didn’t really get until I left my teaching career of 18 years and realised I hadn’t switched off from work in all that time!
By then, I had two step children and a young son and I realised that I had missed out on so much with them. I had been there physically, but mentally and emotionally I was absent as I got lost in the constant juggling of work and family life.
Through developing a daily mindfulness practice and making some simple, key changes, I got my life back.
I learnt how to bring myself to the present moment, slowing the pace so my mind could be where I was.
The changes I made in my life had such a big impact that I decided I wanted to share what I had learned with as many other people as possible.
I became a qualified mindfulness teacher in 2020 having trained with Mindfulness Now – an organisation recognised by the British Psychological Association. I also became a certified meditation leader after training with Skillful Mind.
Since then, I have run several group programmes as well as working with clients on a one to one basis and have helped over 60 individuals to improve their lives, becoming more calm, more connected and more joyful every day.
After just 2 years, Find Your Calm is now an award-winning business! It is the Trusted Business Community Association’s ‘Health and Wellness Business of the Year’ and ‘Customer Services Gold Standard’ for 2022
